Its here! A Maleficent Tutorial that can probably be done in 5 minutes or less!
So Halloween is right around the corner, and while Leopard prints and Zombie looks have always been popular this time of the year, Maleficent will surely be popular as well. MAC created its own Maleficent collection, which can be used to duplicate this look, but the colors are very versatile and you can use any makeup brand as long as the colors are similar (in the photos shown, Julep was used)
Now… The Maleficent Tutorial or How to be Maleficent:
Product List (you can always use an alternative product as long as the color is similar)
- Glow Bronzer in Light Golden Bronze
- Sweep Eyeshadow Palette — Neutrals
- Gel Eye Glider in Blackest Black
- and a Julep Blush Brush
Step 1 — Cheeks
Using the Glow Bronzer (don’t have it? any light golden bronze color should work), to heavily contour underneath the cheekbones. This should be extreme, as you are trying to mimic the high contouring that Angelina Jolie had in the movie (if your starting to look kinda boney, you are doing it right) In the image above provided by Julep, they used the Julep Blush Brush because it has an angled tip, so make sure yours in an angled brush too, or just use the Julep one since its also rad.
Step 2 — Eyes
Now use the Sweep Palette — Neutrals for a smokey eye. Smokey eyes are lighter closest to your nose, and darker as you go to your hair on the sides. You should dark your eyebrows with Gel Eye Glider in Blackest Black. If you have naturally light eyebrows, putting black on them may feel weird but remember that your hair is going to be mostly covered up under Maleficent’s horns unless your hair is naturally dark in the first place. The final step (woot!) is to tightline (also called waterline) your eyes. To tightline, pull up your eyelid so you can see the space below your lashes, then fill in all the gaps between your lashes, avoiding getting eyeliner on your actual eyelid.
Finish with your favorite mascara. Put LOTS of it. You want the most dramatic eyes you can get.
Step 3 — Lips
Remember this mantra: The redder, the better. Grab your richest, creamiest, yummiest red lipstick (we’re using Plush Pout lip crayon in Cardinal Red) and pucker up. The MAC version is called a True Love’s Kiss but its sold out everywhere.
Next step… the Maleficent Horns!
You’ll find that at most Halloween shops, Maleficent is pretty popular this year so there are many different versions out there but at least you now have the make up down.

off to eat some Halloween corn,
