The Julep Secret Store is open! If you are not familiar with the Secret Store, it is a secret link that is only available for 3 days featuring select products on sale (at various levels of discount, up to 65% off). The Secret Store is only available to Mavens who selected a box and did not skip (though in the last 2 previous months, the secret store was open to everyone). If you skipped this month, and would like to know what’s in the Secret Store, here’s a look:

Review

Previous Secret Stores have been better in terms of selection (and included much more products!). I feel that due to the 12 days of Christmas deals, and all the heavy-discount during the holidays, there wasn’t much left to offer. Also the products are much higher priced than usual. Betty (first nail polish, in the first row) was offered but at $11.20 which is the standard Maven price. You can’t find Betty if you do the normal search, so you’re essential are getting just “early access”. Betty is described as:

Garnet birthstone. Full-coverage multidimensional glitter. The January gem in our gold-capped Birthstone Collection.

No word yet on what the Birthstone Collection entails, whether it will be an exclusive Secret Store color every month, of it will be released in full as a set. But it appears that there will be more to come.

Next month will be Amethyst. Most likely we will see it in the secret store (with a gold cap like the Garnet Betty) and probably later on through the regular searches.

The 3-nail set are $14.99, 2-nail set are $9.99, and 1 nail polish for $4.99. The lip-glosses are $9.99 and the product sets vary, with the Hand Command (hand lotion set on 2nd row) being $29.99. The Double Duty Makeup Brush was $14.99, and the caddy which is featured in Tools of the Trade, and is a fan favorite, is $44.99. The selections are just okay, nothing to scream about unlike December Secret Stores (which offered the holiday sets like the Julep Extraordinary Color Kit at huge discounts [I believe the kit was for $20 something when it retails for $39.99). So this month was eh-eh (nothing else I can say…).
